The best way to reduce sound is at the source. Acoustic flooring makes an important contribution to noise reduction in buildings. Acoustic linoleum flooring creates a healthy environment by combining sustainability with excellent sound reduction properties. We offer Marmoleum Acoustic (sound reduction 14 dB) and Marmoleum Decibel (18 dB). A burner lining can be used with regular Marmoleum to reduce impact sound by 14 dB.

For schools, proper acoustic performance creates a calm atmosphere (even if kids are running around in the hallways) to help kids learn. In offices, it reduces stress and aggression. And for hospitals and nursing homes, more peaceful environments help people recover—even if the medical staff is active and noisy.
The best way to reduce sound is at the source. That’s why acoustic flooring is key when it comes to reducing noise in buildings.
Impact sound reduction, how does it work?
Sound is generated by almost every daily activity. Impact sound is generated by traffic coming into contact with the floor surface. Therefore, the floor is also the primary area where acoustic performance can be affected.
The impact sound produced on the floor in one room is transmitted through the floor to the rooms below. To measure the impact sound reduction achieved by the floor covering, the impact noise is generated with a hammer machine directly on a concrete floor slab in the emission chamber and the sound level (S1) is recorded in the receiving chamber below.
